FURTHER: thoughts about using abstract painting as part of the theme for the show, if we were to consider this, then for example we could use Yves Klein for “I Only Get Dressed After Dark,” and then for Eyal’s piece, “In Our Profession” we could project the four panels from Vasily Kandinsky with each iteration in his script.

MoMA | The Collection | Panel for Edwin R. Campbell No. 4. 1914
“Vasily Kandinsky: From Blaue Reiter to the Bauhaus, 1910-1925.”

I’ve been interested in using lights with the dancers in a way that reflects the city life. One thought has been to do something like Diffraction :: Swiss Dance Awards

RE: AIDS link in my play

I’ve come to question the link I’ve made with regards to any AIDS reference in the play. My first thought was that Tennessee Williams was giving us subtext as a way to speak about something he was unable to name (AIDS) and that this un_named thing was something he could only describe as ‘something’ happening between two lovers. I thought this could be true, given the period of time he was writing “I Never Get Dressed ‘Till After Dark On Sundays” and the type of “job” he describes for his character, Tye. Moreover, when TW wrote of Jon having a blood disease and drew his fragile physical features and then further described events stressing how doctors were unwilling to diagnose him, well it had me thinking about AIDS as a subtext to consider.

But after observing the actors and how they are embodying their characters, I’m beginning to see not a real disease, not AIDS, but something about their relationship that is sick. I see a relationship that is dying and the disease of their relationship is killing them both. Jon is sick and so is Tye.

That is what’s killing ‘them’ …..

Chrysta Bell ‘Real Love’ David Lynch

Okay, since our last class it seems like the screen idea is not going to work and I don’t think the lights will add what we need either. So lets try the two dancers in sexy costume like this video and I”d even like to see their movements intimate like this too…. Champagne Girl as the “doll” in this video?
